AD Ports Group has reached a significant milestone as its Khalifa Port Data Centre becomes the first facility in the international trade and logistics arena to secure the prestigious Tier IV Certification of Constructed Facility from the Uptime Institute. This accolade represents the highest standard in the data centre sector.
The achievement highlights AD Ports Group’s strong commitment to digital transformation, operational resilience, and the integration of advanced technologies across its worldwide operations. Tier IV designation is exclusive to data centres that boast full fault tolerance, enabling them to maintain continuous operation irrespective of unexpected outages or system malfunctions.
Situated at Khalifa Port, this Tier IV-certified data centre is a crucial part of AD Ports Group’s hybrid cloud framework, facilitating mission-critical operations across more than 50 nations. Built for top reliability, the centre guarantees 99.995% availability, ensuring complete redundancy in power, cooling systems, and network infrastructure. It currently processes over 150 million digital transactions annually, ensuring secure and high-performance service for global supply chains.
Mohamed Jamal-Eddine, Group Chief Information Officer at AD Ports Group, stated that achieving this milestone underscores the organization’s leadership in the digitalization of global trade. He emphasized that the Tier IV-certified facility represents not only a technical achievement but also a strategic enabler of next-generation technologies, including artificial intelligence, Internet of Things applications, blockchain systems, and Low Earth Orbit satellite connectivity. These advancements, he noted, enhance business continuity and foster more efficient, transparent, and sustainable logistics solutions.
Martin McCarthy, CEO of the Uptime Institute, commended AD Ports Group for meeting the stringent requirements for Tier IV certification. He remarked that this accomplishment reflects exceptional technical skill and a commitment to operational excellence, establishing a new global standard for reliability, security, and service continuity in the trade and logistics sector.
AD Ports Group is already harnessing its Tier IV-certified data centre to drive innovation within its maritime and logistics businesses. The facility facilitates advanced AI initiatives and acts as a hub for real-time data generated by the group’s new LEO satellite services, allowing for ongoing monitoring and optimization of its fleet of 270 vessels. This digital foundation equips AD Ports Group to offer smarter, more connected, and future-ready supply chain solutions globally.
