Following a time away from performing due to the passing of her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson has made a remarkable comeback to the stage. The 43-year-old artist resumed her Studio Sessions residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, on Friday evening, marking her first live performance since the heartbreaking event.
Despite the challenging reason behind her hiatus, Clarkson radiated positivity and energy as she entertained her fans. She engaged warmly with the audience, sharing light-hearted moments that highlighted her signature humor and genuine spirit.
During the concert, the Since U Been Gone artist created unforgettable memories for two couples in attendance. One couple, who had traveled from London, received a playful nudge from Clarkson to stage a proposal. When the boyfriend hesitated, she teasingly encouraged him, saying, “Say, ‘yes,’ bitch!”, eliciting laughter and cheers from the crowd.
Later, she acknowledged another couple celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary, exclaiming, “You made it a decade? F**k yeah, look at that!” Clarkson even jested about officiating a vow renewal, asking, “Do you both promise to keep dancing through life together? For another 50 or 60 years? Aim high!”
Clarkson’s performance series was initially set for August 2025 but was delayed following the diagnosis of her former husband, Brandon Blackstock, with cancer. Blackstock's passing on August 7 compelled Clarkson to pause her professional engagements to support their two children.
Just a day prior to his death, the singer shared an emotional statement:
“While I typically keep my personal affairs private, this past year my children's father has been unwell and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”
She expressed her apologies to fans for the performance delay, guaranteeing her return once she was ready.
Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock were married from 2013 until their divorce in 2022. Besides their marital relationship, Blackstock also played a significant role in managing Clarkson’s music career for several years. They share two children and, despite their separation three years ago, maintained a cooperative co-parenting arrangement for the sake of their kids.
While Clarkson has not publicly disclosed how Blackstock’s passing has impacted her personally, sources indicate she took time off to heal in private. The loss also led to her missing several episodes of The Kelly Clarkson Show earlier this year.
Clarkson’s return to the stage in Las Vegas signifies more than just a musical reappearance—it reflects her resilience and commitment to her fans. Celebrated for her powerful voice and candid nature, she has turned her grief into a source of gratitude, pouring her emotions into heartfelt performances.
Her acclaimed Studio Sessions residency will continue with three additional shows this month, drawing praise from audiences for her ability to blend vulnerability with vibrancy, making her performances both intimate and uplifting.
