‘Homebound’ Shines at NYC Screening with Karan Johar’s Praise

Filmmaker Karan Johar expressed his enthusiasm regarding the New York screening of India’s Oscar submission, Homebound, an event graciously hosted by the renowned Martin Scorsese.

Taking to Instagram, Johar shared a heartfelt message of gratitude towards Scorsese, emphasizing the importance of this occasion. Present at the screening were the film’s lead cast and director Neeraj Ghaywan.

In his Instagram post, Johar conveyed, "Bringing our narrative of #Homebound across the globe has been an extraordinary adventure... and this is yet another chapter! Our screening in NYC, facilitated by our executive producer @martinscorsese_, was an evening filled with supporters and friends. Thank you for your love—it means the world to us. Although I couldn’t attend, I feel completely fulfilled knowing our film is receiving the recognition it deserves."

Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Homebound narrates the tale of two childhood friends from a modest North Indian village seeking a police job that promises them overdue respect. As they approach their goal, the pressure starts to test their enduring friendship.

Featuring Janhvi Kapoor in a principal role, the film has garnered acclaim on global platforms, with screenings at esteemed events like the Cannes Film Festival 2025, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).

With its recent NYC screening, Homebound continues to make strides internationally, receiving accolades for its powerful narrative and outstanding performances, marking a significant milestone for Indian cinema globally.
