Janhvi Kapoor Showcases Gujarati Weaves and Antique Silver at Wedding

Post by : Mina Rahman

Actor Janhvi Kapoor drew attention at a close friend's wedding after sharing photographs of her outfit on Instagram, prompting widespread commentary from fans and style observers.

Regional Techniques and Tailoring

Kapoor wore a bespoke lehenga by Jigya Patel, crafted from a rich silk blend and combining intricate Parsi embroidery with traditional patola motifs. Her dupatta was handwoven and styled in a Gujarati drape, emphasising regional craft techniques in the overall silhouette.

For jewellery, she selected a choker set with coloured stones and carried an antique silver clutch. The handbag—an Agira Silver Box Purse from Surabhi Didwania’s Motifs—has been reported to retail at ₹2,86,300. Her hairstyle featured a long plait accented with silver charms, adding a measured, ornamental finish to the look.

Public and Peer Response

Reaction on social media highlighted Kapoor's likeness to her late mother, Sridevi, with viewers commenting on the family resemblance. One follower observed, “Perfect resemblance to your mother. You inherited your beauty from your mother,” while others praised the overall aesthetic.

Close friend Orhan Awatramani (Orry) endorsed the appearance, commenting, “Best of the best.” Observers also noted design details such as floral sleeve borders with tassels and the ensemble’s antique, bohemian-inspired jewellery—rings, bracelets and earrings—that contributed to the outfit’s standout character.

The ensemble adds to Kapoor’s catalogue of traditional looks. She recently wore a lime-yellow lehenga for her sister Anshula Kapoor’s engagement, accessorised with layered silver necklaces and drop earrings. Kapoor has often referenced her mother’s legacy by donning Sridevi’s sarees at significant events and has made a distinct sartorial impression on international stages; at the Cannes premiere of Homebound she chose a sea-green backless gown embellished with golden embroidery and a line of stones along the back.
