Jacob Elordi's Intense Transformation into Frankenstein's Creature

Post by : Saif Nasser

Actor Jacob Elordi has captivated audiences with his portrayal of Frankenstein’s Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s latest cinematic offering. To authentically represent this iconic character, Elordi endured a meticulous and protracted transformation. A peek behind the scenes reveals a stunning video where the actor spent nearly 10 hours in a makeup chair, with talented artists meticulously applying prosthetics all over his body.

Elordi was cast in the role a mere nine weeks before production commenced, initially considered for the part was actor Andrew Garfield, who ultimately opted out, paving the way for Elordi. Makeup department head Mike Hill noted that the actor's towering 6 feet 5 stature made him an ideal candidate. However, Hill emphasized that Elordi's ability to convey profound emotions was critical in making the creature feel authentic and relatable.

The transformation was astonishingly intricate, involving around 42 prosthetic pieces to complete the creature's appearance, with 14 pieces dedicated solely to the head and neck. The application was executed like an elaborate puzzle, ensuring a lifelike outcome. The removal of this makeup mirrored the lengthy application process, often taking close to 9 hours, aided by a special inflatable sauna in Elordi’s trailer to facilitate the removal of the materials.

The film revisits the timeless Frankenstein narrative, blending elements of horror and science fiction. It explores the tale of a gifted yet arrogant scientist who animates a creature through his experiments, ultimately leading to disastrous consequences. Beyond mere horror, the narrative delves into profound themes of isolation, identity, and what it means to be human.

Joining Jacob Elordi in this impressive cast are notable names like Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and Charles Dance. The film has garnered positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, being hailed as one of Guillermo del Toro’s finest works, with particular commendation for Elordi's compelling performance and commitment to his role.
