Badr-250: The First Emirati Light Attack Aircraft Makes Its Debut

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

A significant advancement in the UAE’s aviation history unfolded as Calidus Holding Group introduced the Badr-250 (B-250), the nation’s inaugural light attack aircraft entirely crafted by Emirati expertise. This landmark unveiling took place at the Dubai Airshow 2025, hosted at Dubai World Central, showcasing the UAE’s escalating proficiency in defense aviation.

The B-250 signifies a substantial leap in military aviation within the region, having successfully completed its maiden flight alongside extensive testing and qualification phases. This multi-role aircraft is adept in various combat operations, including close air support (CAS), intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), counterinsurgency (COIN), persistent air support (PAS), and rigorous pilot training.

At its core, the B-250 comprises a robust, lightweight carbon fiber build, enhanced by cutting-edge avionics, mission systems, communication technologies, and safeguards for self-protection. It is equipped with seven external stores and features an EO/IR gimbal for precision targeting.

Fueled by a single Pratt & Whitney PT6A-68 engine producing 1,600 SHP, the aircraft achieves a maximum velocity of 301 knots, can cover up to 2,400 nautical miles based on configuration, and boasts an endurance of up to 12 hours. Operating at altitude, it can reach a ceiling of 30,000 feet. The pressurized cockpit includes an OBOGS system for enhanced pilot comfort and safety.

With a payload capacity of around 1,800 kg, the B-250 is engineered for operational versatility, capable of transporting various weapons, ammunition, precision-guided missiles, and laser-guided bombs. Its rapid rearming capability ensures readiness for missions even in challenging airbase conditions.

This introduction further solidifies the UAE’s ambitions to establish itself as a pivotal player in aviation and defense technologies. Alongside the B-250 trainer (B-250T) and the WX‑80 for cloud-seeding, Calidus is committed to broadening the nation’s influence in advanced aerospace innovations.
