Indra and EDGE Establish JV in Spain for Advanced Defence Solutions

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

During the Dubai Airshow 2025, Indra Group, alongside UAE-based EDGE Group, unveiled a pivotal joint venture based in Spain, centered on creating and maintaining loitering munitions and smart weapons. This partnership is poised to serve Spain, Europe, and select international markets, with aspirations for expanded defence collaborations.

The memorandum of understanding was inked by Ángel Escribano, Executive President of Indra, along with José Vicente de Los Mozos, CEO of Indra, and Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director & CEO of EDGE. This initiative marks a strategic expansion for both firms, utilizing Indra’s increasing industrial presence in Spain and EDGE’s rapid advancements in weapons technology.

The envisioned joint venture aims to merge European engineering excellence with agile manufacturing processes, delivering sophisticated solutions that enable military forces to efficiently target challenging objectives while safeguarding essential assets. This innovation is projected to align with the escalating demand in defence sectors, especially among regions prioritizing autonomy in weapons development.

This initiative builds upon the groundwork established by PULSE NOVA, a previous collaboration between Indra and EDGE in 2024 focused on radar technologies. The new emphasis will be on high-performance, market-ready smart weapons and loitering munitions, emphasizing both companies’ aspirations to reinforce their impact in Europe and broaden their global market reach.

With Spain as the operational hub, this joint venture is set to significantly enhance Europe’s defence landscape by combining large-scale manufacturing capabilities, cutting-edge technological innovation, and rapid deployment strategies. Analysts highlight that such collaborative efforts are becoming essential in contemporary defence, harmonizing strategic independence with commercial competitiveness.
