Indonesia has voiced robust support for the recently adopted United Nations Security Council resolution endorsing the proposal from U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in Gaza and establishing an international stabilisation force. This positions Indonesia among those advocating for a cohesive and inclusive global strategy to halt violence and restore stability in the region.
The U.S.-crafted resolution, passed on Monday, sets forth a framework designed to ensure a lasting ceasefire, protect civilians, and facilitate an international mission to regain order in Gaza. Additionally, it seeks to enhance diplomatic interaction between Israel, Palestine, and the global community.
On Tuesday, Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its backing for this resolution. Foreign ministry spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang stated that Indonesia “welcomed the resolution” and emphasized the critical need for “involvement from all parties, particularly the Palestinian Authority.” Her comments underline Indonesia’s longstanding belief that any enduring peace initiative must prioritize Palestinian representation and sovereignty.
Recognized as a prominent advocate for Palestinian rights in Asia, Indonesia sees the resolution as a potential pivot point — contingent on active and transparent participation from all stakeholders. Officials indicate that the success of the stabilisation force will significantly rely on international collaboration, humanitarian access, and unwavering commitment to uphold the ceasefire.
The UNSC decision surfaces amid escalating global concern, given that the conflict in Gaza has inflicted severe humanitarian distress and elicited international calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities. If executed effectively, the new stabilisation force could aid in restoring essential services, supporting displaced families, and creating conditions conducive to long-term peace negotiations.
Analysts suggest that Indonesia’s reaction reflects its diplomatic ethos of supporting global peace initiatives while advocating for Palestinian leadership to be central in any accord. This approach resonates with Indonesia's wider foreign policy aims of promoting human rights, stability, and multilateral cooperation.
As discussions progress, Jakarta is likely to maintain its emphasis on humanitarian protection, political inclusiveness, and accountability — principles it considers crucial for achieving a sustainable solution in Gaza.
With the international community closely monitoring developments, the newly adopted resolution signifies a critical advancement toward resolving one of the decade’s most devastating conflicts. The forthcoming months are key in determining whether collaborative international efforts and political resolve can translate the proposal into tangible progress.
