India’s women’s blind cricket team has shown outstanding performance by reaching the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s T20 World Cup, following a commanding ten-wicket victory against the USA. This marks India’s fourth straight win, showcasing their formidable skills and consistency in the tournament. The triumph was realized in their sixth match, highlighting their preparedness for the upcoming knockout rounds.
This match also served as a historic moment for the USA Women’s Blind Cricket Team, making their debut on the World Cup stage. Established through a dynamic development partnership with Indian cricket boards over the last year, the team has emphasized the increasing investment in visually impaired cricket within the USA. Despite their rookie status, the USA players displayed remarkable tenacity and heart throughout the contest.
Opting to bat first, the USA could only manage a total of 60 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. India’s bowlers and fielders excelled, showing keen ability and teamwork, continually applying pressure on the batting side. Notable contributions from USA players Tatyana (17 runs off 41 balls, B2) and Caroline (12 runs off 26 balls, B2) were admirable but insufficient to stave off wickets. Indian bowlers—Simranjeet Kour (B2), Sunita Srathe (B2), Simu Das (B1), and Ganga Kadam (B3)—all claimed wickets, complemented by several run-outs that illustrated their diligent strategy.
In pursuit of the modest target of 61 runs, India achieved the target in a mere 3.3 overs without losing a single wicket. Simranjeet Kour, named Player of the Match, dazzled with an unbeaten 31 from just 12 deliveries (B2), while Kavya N.R (B3) added a vital 21 not out from 12 balls. This robust batting display emphasized India’s experience, effortlessly securing the match.
With this victory, India is set to face arch-rivals Pakistan in a highly anticipated semi-final in Colombo on Sunday. Fans of women’s blind cricket are looking forward to this competitive showdown, where India aims to maintain their exemplary form and push towards the championship title.
Though India’s performance underscored their dominance in the sport, the USA’s inspiring debut exemplified the increasing global interest in women’s blind cricket. The determination exhibited by the young American team suggests promising prospects for the future and a broader expansion of the game internationally. This aligns with significant efforts to elevate inclusive cricket opportunities for visually impaired players globally.
India’s impressive victory against the USA highlights their position as a leading contender in the 2025 Women’s Blind T20 World Cup. As semi-finals approach, the team is resolute and committed to pursuing their winning streak in the quest for the championship title. Although the USA faced defeat, their debut signifies an important milestone in the global expansion of women’s blind cricket.
