The Mate 70 Air has been officially unveiled by Huawei in China, showcasing a premium ultra-slim smartphone aimed to compete with the iPhone Air. With a remarkable thickness of only 6.6mm and a weight of 206g, the device's aesthetic is enhanced by celestial influences such as gold threads, brocade silk details, and a vibrant star-ring effect.
Equipped with a 7-inch FHD+ OLED display, the Mate 70 Air can render 1.07 billion colors and has a P3 wide color gamut along with a peak brightness of 4,000 nits. This combination guarantees stunning visuals, enhancing both media consumption and gaming experiences. Additionally, the device supports Vivid Audio and HDR certification for richer audiovisual quality.
Durability is a strong point for the Mate 70 Air, featuring Kunlun Glass to guard against drops and ultra-durable brocade fiber to provide impact protection. Rated IP68 and IP69, this smartphone is both dustproof and waterproof.
Dynamic Camera Capabilities
This smartphone is equipped with a highly adaptable rear camera system, centered around a 50MP main sensor with OIS, complemented by a 12MP telephoto lens with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide macro lens, and a 1.5MP multispectral Red Maple TrueColor sensor. A 10.7MP ultra-wide front camera is dedicated to selfies and video calls. AI-enhancements such as AI composition, Ultra HD Panorama, and AI Portrait Retouching elevate the photography experience.
Efficient Performance and Battery
Powered by Huawei's Kirin 9000 series processors, the Mate 70 Air has variants with either 12GB RAM and Kirin 9020B or 16GB RAM with Kirin 9020A. Storage options come in 256GB and 512GB; however, there is no capability for expandable memory.
The smartphone houses a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, enabling a slim profile while offering 66W SuperCharge functionality. It employs a vapor chamber heat dissipation system for improved thermal management, although wireless charging isn't provided.
Operating on HarmonyOS 5.1, features such as AI Air Transfer, AI noise cancellation, Tap-to-Share, and stylus support for annotations and extractions enrich the user experience alongside satellite messaging and enhanced stereo audio through Huawei Histen.
Price and Launch Details
The Mate 70 Air will be available in three finishes: Gold Thread & Silver Brocade, Feather Robe White, and Radiant Gold Black. Its pricing in China begins at 4,199 yuan (approximately Rs 52,000) for the 12GB/256GB model, with the 12GB/512GB and 16GB/256GB variations priced at 4,699 yuan (approximately Rs 58,400). The top-end 16GB/512GB variant costs 5,199 yuan (approximately Rs 64,600).
Huawei's Mate 70 Air seamlessly integrates an ultra-slim profile with exceptional performance, top-tier cameras, and intelligent AI capabilities, making it a noteworthy competitor in the luxury smartphone arena.
