Indian women’s cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur has chosen to permanently mark a landmark achievement with a new tattoo. Following India’s World Cup victory over South Africa by 52 runs, she shared images of the ink and described the moment as something that will remain “in her skin and in her heart.”
The design, placed on her upper left arm, depicts the World Cup trophy alongside the year 2025 and the number 52. The numerals commemorate the margin of the final and also evoke the long interval since India’s notable men’s World Cup success in 1983. The tattoo acts as a visual record of the team’s persistence and eventual triumph.
Posting on November 5, Harmanpreet wrote that the victory is now “forever etched” on her and that the mark will remind her each day to feel grateful for the achievement. Her message resonated widely among supporters who praised her leadership and resolve.
The artwork was completed at Aliens Tattoo Studio. Sunny Bhanushali, the studio’s founder, said he was honoured to create a piece with such significance, calling it more than an image but a narrative of courage and dedication. He added that the final motif was developed after consultations with Harmanpreet and several teammates to ensure it captured shared memories.
The studio released behind-the-scenes photographs showing Harmanpreet calm and smiling during the session. Fans responding online noted the visible pride on her face in those shots.
For Harmanpreet, the tattoo represents more than a single match. It symbolises years of training, setbacks and perseverance. The women’s team endured scrutiny and comparisons over time, yet this World Cup win has shifted perceptions and provided a defining moment.
The victory has parallels for many in India with the 1983 men's World Cup win led by Kapil Dev, an event that helped popularise the sport across the country. Observers say the recent success is likely to inspire a fresh generation of players.
As a lasting emblem, Harmanpreet’s tattoo serves as a reminder that accomplishments often follow long-term effort. It stands as a personal and public message of hope to millions.
Celebrations across India were widespread: crowds gathered, national flags were waved and social channels filled with tributes. The achievement was widely viewed as historic for women’s cricket in the country.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s tattoo will permanently mark that day — the day India secured the Women’s World Cup, won by 52 runs, and the nation celebrated a moment of collective pride.
