Thailand's TH-AI Passport Initiative Gains Momentum Amid Public Support

Post by : Shakul

The Thai government has expressed enthusiasm over a recent public opinion poll indicating substantial backing for the TH-AI Passport initiative, aimed at enhancing access to artificial intelligence and fortifying the nation’s digital economy. Officials suggest that the results reflect growing trust in AI as a catalyst for economic and social advancement.

The Super Poll Research Institute's survey unveiled that awareness of artificial intelligence is notably high across Thailand. A staggering 91 percent of respondents indicated familiarity with AI, and over 72 percent acknowledged its integration into their daily lives, education, professional endeavors, or business operations. These statistics underscore the swift transition Thailand is making towards a technology-oriented, knowledge-driven ecosystem.

Out of the surveyed participants, 63.7 percent expressed their support for the government's pursuit of the TH-AI Passport project, contingent upon its transparent operation, accountability, and measurable public benefits. Government representatives hailed this backing as a badge of honor for leveraging technology to enhance living standards and open new avenues for citizens.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Periswiwatana remarked that the administration perceives artificial intelligence not merely as an emerging trend but as a strategic asset capable of boosting productivity, generating job opportunities, minimizing costs, and enhancing economic competitiveness. She reaffirmed the government's commitment to executing the initiative with transparency and accountability to the public.

The feedback gathered from the public reveals ambitious aspirations for AI-fueled growth. A notable 91 percent of respondents are keen on AI enhancing income potential and creating business avenues, with nearly 89 percent asserting it can bolster Thailand’s economic stature. Furthermore, a significant majority supports leveraging AI to facilitate knowledge access, modernize educational systems, and foster skill development essential for a future-proof workforce.

Focusing on five key areas, the government plans to assist citizens in enhancing their earnings through AI, elevate national competitiveness, bridge the digital gap, upgrade educational and workforce competencies, and deploy AI for improved public safety, particularly aiding vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities.

Officials stressed that the TH-AI Passport initiative will synergize with wider measures such as AI training programs, community learning centers, access to digital resources, and expert advisory services. The government is optimistic that these efforts will cultivate a comprehensive AI ecosystem where all citizens can share in the technological advancements and engage more dynamically in the forthcoming digital economy.
