Bollywood icon Govinda was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday following an incident where he fainted at his residence. The beloved actor was promptly transported to CritiCare Asia Multispeciality Hospital for urgent medical attention.
His lawyer, Lalit Bindal, mentioned that the veteran had been feeling unwell before his hospitalization. “He was disoriented. All necessary tests have been conducted, and we’re now waiting for reports and the neuro consultant’s advice. He is currently stable,” Bindal stated.
The 60-year-old’s recent health scare follows a visit to veteran actor Dharmendra, who is recuperating at Breach Candy Hospital. A video of Govinda leaving the hospital surfaced online, showcasing his worried demeanor.
This isn't the first recent instance of Govinda needing hospital care. In October of the previous year, he sustained a bullet injury to his knee due to an accidental discharge of his licensed revolver at home.
The occurrence transpired around 4:45 am as Govinda was getting ready to depart for a show in Kolkata. The weapon went off as he attempted to reposition it in the cupboard.
Reflecting on that alarming episode, Govinda shared, “I was on my way to a Kolkata show at about 5 in the morning. At that moment, it fell and discharged. I was stunned and saw blood when I looked down. I called my doctor right away and got hospitalized.”
He was released after three days and greeted fans outside the hospital with a gesture of gratitude, accompanied by his wife, Sunita Ahuja, and daughter, Tina Ahuja.
Govinda stands as one of Bollywood's cherished stars, recognized for his outstanding comedic timing, dancing prowess, and magnetic screen presence. He gained prominence in the late 1980s with hits like Ilzaam (1986) and Love 86 (1986).
His enduring partnership with filmmaker David Dhawan resulted in numerous blockbuster films, including Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Raja Babu, and Partner. In addition to comedy, Govinda showcased his versatility with more serious roles, proving his talent across diverse genres.
Throughout his illustrious three-decade career, he has remained a staple in Indian cinema, with his most recent film being Rangeela Raja (2019).
Currently, Govinda is in stable condition and under careful monitoring. Medical professionals have performed all requisite tests and are awaiting the results of neurological consultations to discern the cause of his fainting spell. Fans and supporters from across the nation are sending him heartfelt wishes for a swift recovery.
