Launching a New Era for Emirati SMEs: Google Partners with Dubai SME

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

In an ambitious initiative to bolster the digital capabilities of local entrepreneurs, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Dubai SME), under the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, has partnered with Google to unveil a program designed to enhance the global competitiveness of Emirati-owned SMEs.

This launching event took place in Dubai, where representatives from both organizations highlighted the kickoff of a pilot program that will offer selected Emirati firms access to cutting-edge digital marketing tools, premium resources, and direct mentorship. This initiative aligns strategically with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to position Dubai as the fastest-growing entrepreneurial hub.

For the pilot phase, 10 promising Emirati firms have been meticulously selected based on defined criteria to test the program's framework. These firms will benefit from advertising credits, creative assistance, and substantial visibility on Google's platforms, empowering them to run impactful campaigns at a reduced expense. The program specifically addresses critical hurdles encountered by smaller businesses, such as tight budgets and the challenge of achieving online visibility.

One of the key features of this collaboration is its innovative co-funding approach, where the financial investment for each participating SME will be equally distributed among Dubai SME, Google, and the business itself. Officials assert that this model fosters accountability and sustainable growth, allowing companies to thrive beyond the initial assistance phase.

Participants will also gain invaluable mentorship through the network of public and private partners of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. This mentorship will encompass digital strategy, content creation, and campaign optimization, ensuring businesses not only implement effective advertising but also enhance their long-term digital footprint.

The pilot is set to commence later this year, aiming to provide performance insights that will help develop broader programs supporting a more extensive array of SMEs in Dubai. This initiative represents another stride towards cultivating an environment where local businesses can innovate, compete globally, and make more significant contributions to Dubai’s economic ambitions.
