Renowned actor Girija Oak Godbole, celebrated for her role in Jawan, is preparing for the launch of her latest web series, Therapy Sherapy. This series features a talented ensemble including Gulshan Devaiah, Neha Dhupia, Seema Pahwa, and Manoj Pahwa, under the direction of Sachin Pathak. In advance of its premiere, Girija shared her personal insights into filming intimate sequences with Gulshan, emphasizing how his professionalism contributed to a respectful and comfortable atmosphere.
Comfort and Respect in Intimate Scenes
During a revealing interview with The Lallantop, Girija Oak discussed her experiences of shooting intimate moments with Gulshan Devaiah for Therapy Sherapy. She expressed appreciation for him as “one of those rare co-actors” who fosters a safe and respectful environment while filming.
She commented,
“Even with extensive planning, very few individuals create a sense of comfort during such scenes. Gulshan was exceptional. He brought different types of pillows from his vanity — a small one, a fluffy one, and a more rigid one — allowing me to choose what I preferred. Throughout the scene, he checked in with me at least 16 or 17 times, asking, ‘Are you okay?’”
She added,
“He reassured me, saying, ‘If you want to stop at any time, I’m perfectly fine with that.’ That degree of thoughtfulness truly touched me. For others, this could have been a challenging situation. However, with Gulshan, I felt completely relaxed. He possesses that kind of considerate nature.”
Significance of Intimacy Coordinators and Production Challenges
Girija highlighted the critical role of intimacy coordinators on set, stressing that their involvement guarantees transparency and comfort for the actors. She pointed out that prior discussions are essential before filming such scenes, solidifying boundaries and expectations.
“The environment is designed so that actors feel at ease, with intimacy coordinators present at all times. Numerous discussions take place beforehand, ensuring everyone involved knows what to expect,” she explained.
Nevertheless, Girija acknowledged that despite thorough preparatory work, complications may arise once filming begins.
“When the camera rolls, actors can find themselves facing tough decisions about whether to continue or halt a scene, navigating a complex grey area,” she noted.
Therapy Sherapy, directed by Sachin Pathak, explores intricate human emotions and relationships through a unique lens. The series boasts a remarkable cast, featuring Girija Oak, Gulshan Devaiah, Neha Dhupia, Seema Pahwa, and Manoj Pahwa in significant roles.
The series’ official release date has yet to be announced, but anticipation is high due to its distinctive theme and engaging performances.
Girija Oak’s heartfelt insights emphasize how professionalism and empathy can enhance delicate scenes, turning them into secure and collaborative artistic endeavors. She credited co-star Gulshan Devaiah for his considerate gestures and respectful approach, making the process of filming intimate moments in Therapy Sherapy a smooth and enriching experience.
