Gabrielle Henry: Miss Jamaica's Condition Post-Pageant Fall

Post by : Mina Rahman

Gabrielle Henry, crowned Miss Jamaica 2024, remains hospitalized three days after a significant fall during the preliminary evening gown competition at Miss Universe in Thailand on November 19. The 28-year-old contestant lost her balance while navigating the stage in high heels in a dazzling orange gown and fell off the edge, prompting immediate medical attention at Paolo Rangsit Hospital, where doctors evaluated her injuries through scans and tests.

Initial reports indicated she had no critical injuries or fractures; however, continuous monitoring has been deemed necessary due to the impact from the incident. Consequently, Henry missed the Miss Universe Pageant held the next day on November 20.

The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization communicated that Gabrielle's mother, Maureen, and her sister, Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels, have flown to Thailand to be by her side. Dr. Henry-Samuels stated, “Gabby isn’t doing as well as we would have hoped, but the hospital continues to treat her accordingly.” Medical professionals have advised that she remain in the intensive care unit for at least another week for sustained specialized care.

The organization has called on the public to keep Gabrielle in their thoughts during this challenging time, stressing the importance of compassion and responsible behavior online. They asked social media users to refrain from disseminating negative remarks or unverified information that might further upset her family. Their statement highlighted that the priority is her healing and happiness.

Supportive messages have been streaming in from fans, fellow contestants, and the broader pageant community. Officials who have visited Gabrielle assured loved ones that she is receiving attentive medical care, and she remains in the ICU as doctors work to stabilize her condition, with additional updates anticipated as her health progresses.
