Pakistan Detains Four Militants Tied to Islamabad Suicide Bombing

Post by : Raina Nasser

Islamabad, Nov 14: Pakistani security forces have successfully apprehended four militants associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in connection with the tragic suicide bombing outside the Islamabad District Judicial Complex earlier this week. This attack, which took place on Tuesday in the G-11 sector of the capital, resulted in 12 deaths and left 36 others injured.

In a statement on social media, the government confirmed that these arrests were made during a collaborative operation involving the Intelligence Bureau Division and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). Officials termed this operation a vital move in dismantling the TTP network that has been targeting law enforcement in the capital.

Details of the Attack's Planning

Investigations have uncovered that the suicide bombing was meticulously orchestrated by TTP operatives located in Afghanistan. The attacker, known as Usman alias Qari, was reportedly directed throughout the process by the militant organization. The bomber's handler, Sajidullah alias Sheena, disclosed that he was contacted by TTP commander Saeedur Rehman alias Daadullah via the Telegram messaging platform to launch the attack with the intention of maximizing casualties among security forces.

According to reports, Sheena received photographs of the bomber from Daadullah and was ordered to acquire a suicide vest, which he sourced from a graveyard in Peshawar and transported to Islamabad. On the day of the bombing, Sheena equipped Usman with the vest, thus executing the deadly scheme.

Effective Coordination by TTP

“The operation was overseen and directed at every phase by the TTP leadership based in Afghanistan. The entire cell responsible for the incident, including its commander and three other members, has been captured,” the government statement indicated. Authorities highlighted that these arrests signify a major disruption to TTP operations within the country.

The government noted that further inquiries are underway and further arrests and disclosures are anticipated in the days ahead as security forces strive to entirely dismantle the militant apparatus.

Nationwide Impact and Security Measures

The suicide bombing in Islamabad has sent shockwaves through the nation, raising alarms about the security of crucial government and judicial establishments against militant aggression. Officials have pledged to bolster security around sensitive regions and persist in their crackdown against extremist factions.

These apprehensions mark an important advancement in Pakistan’s relentless battle against terrorism, underscoring the unified efforts of intelligence and counter-terrorism bodies to neutralize threats prior to potential fatalities.

As investigations advance, officials urge the public to stay alert and report suspicious activities, reaffirming Pakistan’s dedication to protecting its citizens from extremist threats.
