Fatima Sana Shaikh brought a warm and bright touch to Mumbai as she attended the special screening of her upcoming romantic drama Gustaakh Ishq. Dressed in a lemon-yellow saree, she looked graceful and confident while meeting the cast, crew, and media. The film, directed by Vibhu Puri, also stars Vijay Varma and veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah. It marks fashion designer Manish Malhotra’s debut as a film producer, adding extra excitement to the project.
At the screening, Fatima posed with Vijay Varma and interacted with fans and photographers. Her saree, simple yet elegant, was paired with pearl earrings, a ring, and a neatly styled bun. The one-shoulder blouse added a modern touch, giving her look a balance of tradition and style.
Gustaakh Ishq recently premiered at the Gala Premiere section of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Fatima plays Minni in the film—a schoolteacher and the daughter of a retired poet. The role is emotional and grounded, giving her the chance to explore a character who lives a simple life but carries deep dreams.
Speaking about Minni in an interview, Fatima said the character reminded her of many women she has known in real life. She described Minni as a strong, calm, and hopeful person. According to her, Minni is not a typical glamorous heroine but a woman who believes in love and dignity in her own quiet way. Director Vibhu Puri praised Fatima’s performance, saying she brought depth to the role and made silence feel powerful, almost like dialogue.
During the shoot of the film, Fatima experienced a scary medical incident that shocked the entire team. She suffered a full-blown seizure on set. Her co-star Vijay Varma later recalled how frightening the moment was for everyone. The team immediately cleared a bed, helped her lie down, and gave her space. Varma said he kept his hand on her head to comfort her while they waited for the seizure to pass. She was then taken to a hotel room to rest and slowly regained consciousness, though she could not remember what had happened.
The incident showed not only the pressures actors work under but also the strong bond between the cast members. Despite the difficult moment, Fatima recovered and continued working on the film with dedication.
With its heartfelt story, strong cast, and emotional depth, Gustaakh Ishq has already received early praise. Fatima’s graceful appearance at the Mumbai screening reflected her pride and excitement for the project. Fans are now eager to watch her touching performance as Minni when the film releases soon.
