Prominent figures in Bollywood, Farah Khan Ali and Nikitin Dheer, have voiced their strong disapproval of the paparazzi's intrusive conduct during moments of grief involving legendary actors like Dharmendra, Zarine Khan, and Jeetendra.
Their remarks, made through social media, have ignited a renewed dialogue surrounding compassion, ethical reporting, and the limits of celebrity news coverage.
Nikitin Dheer Slams Paparazzi Behavior as 'Vulture-Like'
Nikitin Dheer, who recently experienced the loss of his father, actor Pankaj Dheer, expressed his shock at the paparazzi's actions during such a vulnerable period.
He stated:
“I lost a part of my heart recently and observed firsthand the appalling nature of the so-called paparazzi. The atmosphere doesn’t feel human; it feels like you’re surrounded by vultures.”
Nikitin specifically criticized the circulation of a video showing Jeetendra in a visibly fragile state for mere likes and views.
He added:
“Now, again, we see their behavior as Shri Dharmendra suffers from illness; it’s truly disheartening. Do we, as a society, really only care about likes and views? Aise samay logon ka tamasha mat banao (Don’t create a spectacle at such moments).”
He implored people to recognize the emotional suffering of families facing health crises or loss, even if he believed that his words might not change anything.
Farah Khan Ali Questions Our Humanity
Farah Khan Ali penned an emotional note reflecting on how the focus seems to be more on probing her mother, Zarine Khan’s cremation details than expressing sympathy.
“My mother departed six days ago, and some individuals were more focused on questioning her cremation choices rather than extending condolences. Dharm Uncle is in the hospital, and footage of his private moments goes viral.”
Farah questioned why those in the public eye are often denied basic empathy:
“Are we as a nation devoid of compassion? Don’t public figures have families with feelings too? What has happened to our humanity?”
She cautioned those who judge others, saying that eventually, everyone encounters tragedy:
“When your time comes—and it surely will—others will also hurt you like you’ve hurt us.”
Zarine Khan, spouse of actor Sanjay Khan, passed away on November 7 at the age of 81.
She is survived by her husband, daughters Sussanne, Farah, Simone Arora, and son Zayed.
Dharmendra was hospitalized recently at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to health issues but was discharged following treatment on Wednesday.
During a prayer meeting for Zarine Khan, actor Jeetendra had an unfortunate slip, which was recorded and widely shared.
The comments from Farah Khan Ali and Nikitin Dheer underscore rising apprehensions regarding the lack of ethical standards in paparazzi culture. Many social media users have echoed their calls for greater sensitivity and respect when celebrities are enduring personal hardships.
