Ezeiza Industrial Park Explosion Causes Injuries and Major Fire

Post by : Raina Nasser

Ezeiza, Argentina – November 15, 2025: A sequence of intense explosions occurred at the Spegazzini Industrial Park in Ezeiza, just south of Buenos Aires, on Friday evening, leading to a large fire and injuring 22 people, as per official reports. Several factories, particularly chemical and plastics plants, sustained significant damage, heightening alarms regarding industrial safety standards in the vicinity.

Gaston Granados, the mayor of Ezeiza, stated that numerous facilities were impacted, including storages for chemicals and agricultural products, along with Plásticos Lago, a plastics manufacturing plant. “The scale of the explosions and the ensuing fire throughout various factories is enormous,” Granados noted. He indicated that emergency protocols were activated to evacuate those in the area efficiently.

Video recordings circulating on social media showcased immense flames and dark smoke emanating from the site, with the blast's force causing windows to shatter in Ezeiza and the nearby Canuelas. Several witnesses claimed to have seen an unidentified object descend just prior to the explosions, although officials have not yet verified these accounts.

Carlos Santoro, the director of the local hospital, confirmed that 22 individuals needed medical attention for various injuries, including burns and trauma resulting from the explosions. Emergency services dispatched 15 firefighting units to manage the fire, which is anticipated to persist for an extended duration. Fabian Garcia, the civil defense director of Buenos Aires province, characterized the situation as “complex” and cautioned that extinguishing the inferno would require considerable time.

There is ongoing speculation regarding the potential involvement of a small airplane, though Mayor Granados emphasized that definitive conclusions would only be drawn once the fire is entirely subdued. In the meantime, Sinteplast, one of the affected factories, assured that it was not the origin of the incident. “Everything was demolished - gates, ceilings, and fire pipes were blown away. The firefighting teams are here. It was a catastrophic explosion. Our facility was spared, but the shockwave was overwhelming,” explained the factory owner.

This incident highlights the risks that laborers and nearby residents face in industrial zones. Investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the explosions, with officials committing to provide updates as soon as the fire is fully extinguished. Local authorities are prioritizing the safety of surrounding neighborhoods while emergency units labor diligently to mitigate further destruction.

As the fire continues to blaze within the industrial park, both the Argentine public and government are on heightened alert, underscoring the urgent need for stringent safety measures and timely emergency actions in industrial locations.
