Etihad Airways Reports Unprecedented Growth in 2025

Etihad Airways, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, has achieved extraordinary success in the first nine months of 2025, showcasing record financial results alongside impressive passenger growth. The airline's profit after tax soared to AED 1.7 billion (U.S.$ 463 million), marking a 26% rise compared to the prior year and resulting in a profit margin of 8%.

Revenue surged 18% year-on-year, totaling AED 21.7 billion (U.S.$ 5.9 billion), with solid performances from both passenger and cargo sectors. Passenger revenue alone increased by 20% to AED 18.2 billion, bolstered by enhanced capacity and a wider international network. Additionally, cargo revenue grew by 8% to AED 3.2 billion, with a 6% rise in volumes year over year.

Operational efficiency remains strong with EBITDA rising 27% to AED 4.3 billion and a margin improvement to 20%. Operating cash flow reached over AED 6 billion, reflecting an increase of more than 40% compared to the previous year.

With 16.1 million passengers transported—the highest in its history—the airline benefitted from a 17% increase in capacity and a record load factor of 88%. The new A321LR fleet has garnered positive feedback, featuring premium offerings such as private First suites and fully lie-flat Business seats on narrow-body flights.

Fleet growth has been pivotal to this success, with 115 aircraft operating by September 2025, including the latest Airbus A321LRs, Boeing 787s, and Airbus A350s. Available Seat Kilometres (ASK) jumped over 20% in the third quarter alone, with nearly 300 daily flights serving over 100 destinations.

Network developments include launching flights to Atlanta and Al Alamein, with plans to expand to Salalah, Kazan, and Krakow. Etihad also added over 500,000 seats in Europe, enhancing Abu Dhabi's inbound tourism and connectivity.

Customer satisfaction soared, evidenced by increasing Net Promoter Scores across all service tiers, and premium services achieving new standards. The airline was recognized as a Five-Star Global Airline for 2026 by APEX, underscoring its dedication to service excellence and innovation.

In line with its operational growth, Etihad expanded its workforce by over 2,600 employees within nine months, which included 200 pilots and 1,500 cabin crew, and more than 1,500 internal promotions.

These milestones signify not only Etihad Airways' status as a premier global carrier but also affirm Abu Dhabi's reputation as an exceptional aviation hub.
