Red Sea International Film Festival Collaborates with Annecy CITIA for Animation Growth

Post by : Mara Rahim

The Red Sea International Film Festival has embarked on a significant three-year collaboration with CITIA, the entity behind the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. This partnership was formalized in Jeddah by Faisal Baltyuor, CEO of the Red Sea Film Foundation, and Mickaël Marin, CEO of CITIA. The initiative aims to spotlight Saudi animation talent on the global stage while bolstering the country's standing within the international animation sector.

Beginning in 2026, the partnership is set to launch various key initiatives. A primary focus will be on fostering Saudi talent through opportunities for professional networking, skills enhancement, and thought exchange with international experts. Additionally, this collaboration is poised to foster more international partnerships and creative endeavors among Saudi creators and global industry professionals.

A notable aspect of this initiative is the introduction of an annual program at Culture Square in Historic Jeddah, featuring selected works from the Annecy Festival along with interactive workshops, screenings, and family-oriented events. This initiative will provide local audiences with exposure to premier global animation, inspiring the next generation of creators across the Kingdom.

Moreover, the partnership will initiate training workshops and exchange programs facilitated by CITIA’s extensive global network, aiding Saudi artists to acquire practical experience and insights from industry leaders. By granting access to international knowledge and industry standards, the initiative aspires to cultivate a robust and competitive animation sector in Saudi Arabia.

Through this enduring collaboration, the Red Sea Film Festival actively promotes creative industries in the Kingdom, enabling aspiring animators to grow, network, and achieve success on an international level.
