Dubai, November 17, 2025 — Emirates, known as the largest international airline globally, has unveiled a significant purchase of 65 Boeing 777-9 aircraft, featuring GE9X engines, amounting to $38 billion based on list prices. This declaration, made on the inaugural day of the Dubai Airshow 2025, underscores Emirates’ position as the preeminent operator of the Boeing 777 series and signifies a robust commitment to global aerospace development.
With this new acquisition, Emirates raises its total Boeing widebody orders to 315 aircraft, consisting of 270 Boeing 777Xs, 10 Boeing 777 freighters, and 35 Boeing 787s. Additionally, the airline's commitment to GE9X engines now totals 540 units, including today’s confirmation of 130 new engines. This substantial investment is projected to generate hundreds of thousands of high-quality aerospace jobs in the United States throughout the lifespan of the programs.
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, highlighted the strategic relevance of this deal: “Every aircraft on our orderbook has been methodically aligned with Emirates’ long-term expansion vision, complementing Dubai’s development goals. Operating a state-of-the-art, advanced fleet has been integral to our strategy, and we eagerly anticipate the arrival of our first 777-9s in Q2 2027, featuring cutting-edge onboard amenities.”
This agreement also supports Boeing’s feasibility assessment for the 777-10, a larger variant in the 777X series. Emirates has secured options to modify part of its 777-9 order to the 777-10 or 777-8, demonstrating trust in the evolution of larger, more efficient aircraft to address escalating global air traffic and operational limits.
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, expressed her gratitude for the renewed collaboration: “We are truly honored that Emirates has selected the Boeing 777X to lead its future expansion. For four decades, Boeing has partnered with Emirates in expanding its fleet and international reach. Today’s order fortifies that collaboration and assures Emirates will continue to operate Boeing aircraft for many years ahead.”
Russell Stokes, President & CEO of Commercial Engines & Services for GE Aerospace, welcomed the new order: “We are thrilled to enhance our partnership with Emirates. As the foremost customer for GE90 and GP7200 engines worldwide, this new GE9X order reflects Emirates’ trust in our technology and capabilities, and we are prepared to facilitate their future growth.”
Over its 40-year history, Emirates has operated all variants of the Boeing 777 family and currently operates the largest 777 fleet worldwide, totaling 119 Boeing 777-300ERs, 10 Boeing 777-200LRs, and 11 freighters, linking Dubai to over 140 global destinations.
The airline’s expanded orderbook guarantees Boeing deliveries to Emirates will proceed through to 2038, serving as a long-term boon to the US aerospace sector while ensuring Emirates retains a modern, efficient, and technologically advanced fleet.
This transaction reiterates Emirates' enduring significance in influencing global aviation trajectories, demonstrating the airline's commitment to Dubai's economic progress and its crucial role in fostering strong US-UAE aerospace relations. As Emirates enlarges its 777X fleet, it solidifies its stature as a global aviation frontrunner while driving advancements in air travel efficiency, comfort, and sustainability.
