The romantic thriller Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat featuring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa is set to debut on Netflix on December 16, 2025. After its theatrical showing on October 21 during Diwali, the film rapidly gained traction, becoming the 12th highest-grossing Hindi film of the year, even amidst mixed reviews from critics. Its upcoming OTT release aims to reach an even wider audience eager for narratives that delve into intricate relationships and the dark side of passionate love.
Directed by Milap Zaveri with co-writing from Mushtaq Shiekh, the film navigates the complexities of love, portraying desire and obsession as forces that can distort devotion into something perilous. The narrative sheds light on themes such as possessiveness, emotional struggle, heartbreak, and the destructive path of uncontrolled obsession. Rather than presenting love as a comforting ideal, the film reveals its potential to turn toxic under the weight of ego and privilege.
The storyline centers on Vikramaditya Bhonsle, played by Harshvardhan Rane, a powerful politician whose fixation on renowned actress Adaa Randhawa, portrayed by Sonam Bajwa, spirals out of control following her rejection of him. What starts as relentless courtship transforms into an unnerving obsession, driven by entitlement and a desperate need for control. As Vikramaditya's fixation deepens, Adaa is compelled to take drastic actions for her own safety. Set against a backdrop of political power and emotional manipulation, the film articulates a stark portrayal of toxic love, illustrating how obsession can evolve into a weapon.
Produced by Anshul Rajendra Garg and Dinesh Jain under the Desi Movies Factory banner, the film showcases cinematography by Nigam Bomzan and features a soundtrack composed by John Stewart Eduri, complemented by contributions from Ariyan Mehedi. The film also includes a notable supporting cast, featuring Rajesh Khera, Sachin Khedekar, Shaad Randhawa, and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, whose performances intensify the film’s emotional depth.
As the Netflix release date approaches, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is poised to ignite conversations surrounding toxic masculinity, celebrity harassment, and the perilous idealization of obsession, making it one of the most anticipated films of the season.
