In a thrilling finish, rookie VJ Edgecombe sank a pivotal 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left in overtime, clinching a dramatic 139-136 victory for the Philadelphia 76ers over the Memphis Grizzlies. Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid spearheaded Philadelphia’s offense, each scoring 34 points, with Embiid contributing 10 rebounds and eight assists, while Maxey tallied 12 assists. Edgecombe had a total of 25 points, showcasing his prowess with 13 crucial points in the fourth quarter, helping the 76ers break their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Memphis’ Ja Morant shone with a captivating performance, scoring 40 points, including an impressive 18 in the fourth quarter and six in overtime. Rookie Cedric Coward made a significant impact, recording career highs of 28 points and 16 rebounds. The Grizzlies mounted a strong comeback, netting the last seven points of the fourth quarter, highlighted by a daring four-point play from Jaren Jackson Jr. and two baskets from Morant to push the game into overtime. Unfortunately for Coward, his last-second 3-pointer attempt fell short.

In other NBA action, the Los Angeles Clippers dominated the Sacramento Kings 131-90 in Inglewood, California. Kawhi Leonard was a powerhouse, scoring 33 points—26 of which came in the first half—as the Clippers secured their fifth consecutive win, with James Harden adding 21 points. The Kings struggled, managing just a season-low total of 90 points.

The Boston Celtics defeated the Utah Jazz 129-119, led by Derrick White’s remarkable performance. White not only scored 27 points but also recorded seven blocks, seven rebounds, and six assists, making NBA history as the first player 6-foot-5 or shorter to accomplish such a feat. Jaylen Brown contributed 23 points, while Keyonte George led the Jazz with 37 points, alongside Jusuf Nurkic, who added 26 points and eight rebounds.

In a surprising turn in Detroit, the Pistons toppled the Los Angeles Lakers 128-106, dousing LeBron James’ 41st birthday celebration. Cade Cunningham excelled for Detroit with 27 points and 11 assists, while Marcus Sasser and Isaiah Stewart significantly contributed. Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 30 points but faced challenges with eight turnovers, while LeBron scored 17 points, making history as only the 12th player in NBA history to compete at the age of 41 or older by playing in his 1,577th game.
