A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Sındırgı district in Balıkesir province, western Türkiye, early this morning, as reported by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) of the country.
The quake occurred at a depth of 11.04 kilometers. Officials have stated that there have been no reports of casualties or property damage, with teams still conducting evaluations in the impacted regions.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya noted that emergency response teams were promptly deployed after the earthquake to assess potential injuries and damages.
Sındırgı experienced a 6.1-magnitude earthquake on October 27 last year, which did not lead to any casualties either.
Authorities are actively monitoring the developments and advising the community to remain vigilant for possible aftershocks.
