Dubai has announced its comprehensive preparations for the New Year’s Eve 2026 events, implementing extensive security, transport, medical, and municipal strategies to create a remarkable and secure experience for both residents and visitors.
This announcement came from the Dubai Event Security Committee (ESC) during a press conference hosted at the Dubai Civil Defence Headquarters, with key officials from various government and partner organizations present to discuss plans for one of the globe's most famous New Year celebrations.
The upcoming festivities will showcase fireworks displays at 40 sites throughout the emirate, featuring a total of 48 separate shows. Iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Atlantis The Royal, Bab Al Shams Desert Resort, Expo City Dubai, Dubai Frame, Al Marmoom Oasis, Dubai Parks and Resorts, Emirates Golf Club, and Hatta are among those included.
Unified Security Measures Across Dubai
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations at Dubai Police and Chairman of the Event Security Committee, reported that 55 government, semi-government, and private entities are collaborating under a unified security framework.
Dubai has been segmented into four operational zones—North, Central, West, and Marine—to guarantee effective coordination and quick responses. To assist the public, 37 assistance tents are set up at celebration sites, providing police services, first aid, lost-and-found support, visitor guidance, and care for unaccompanied children.
Residents and visitors are urged to follow safety protocols, cooperate with security personnel, and adhere to traffic regulations. Emergency calls can be made to 999, and non-emergency inquiries should be directed to 901.
Special viewing zones for workers have been arranged, with collaboration from the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs, offering large screens and meals for safe and organized engagement.
Law Enforcement, Civil Defence and Emergency Readiness
Dubai Police has allocated 9,884 police officers, backed by 1,625 patrol vehicles, 53 marine security boats, 36 bicycles, and 34 mounted units to ensure coverage across both land and water.
Simultaneously, Dubai Civil Defence has finalized extensive preparations, deploying 1,754 firefighters throughout the emirate. Celebration zones are divided into five sectors—Deira, Bur Dubai, Central Dubai, Jebel Ali, and the Waterfront Sector—supported by 26 Civil Defence stations, 156 specialized vehicles, and 12 marine firefighting boats. More than 306 critical facilities have been inspected for safety compliance. Emergencies can be reported at 997.
Traffic, Transport, and Metro Operations
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed arrangements to manage traffic and public transport, especially around Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa. Joint task forces from RTA, Dubai Police, Civil Defence, and Dubai Ambulance Services will function from a Unified Control Centre.
Road closures will commence at 4 pm and will progressively expand until reaching 11 pm, impacting key thoroughfares, including Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Asayel Street, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, and surrounding routes.
The public transport capacity has been substantially increased, with over 14,000 taxis, 18,000 limousine and luxury vehicles, and 1,300 buses operating. Both Dubai Metro Red and Green Lines, alongside the Dubai Tram, will run continuously for 43 hours to facilitate smooth mobility during the festivities.
Emergency Services and Healthcare Coordination
Dubai Ambulance Services is fully mobilized with 236 ambulance points across Dubai and Hatta, enhanced by specialized vehicles, marine units, electric and bicycle ambulances, air medical support, and a mobile medical warehouse. There will be 635 staff and 50 trained First Responder volunteers assisting in high-density locations. Ambulance services can be called through 998 or the Dubai Ambulance app.
Dubai Health has deployed 1,900 medical and support staff, placed six hospitals and four clinics on heightened alert, and established a fully equipped field hospital in the Burj Khalifa vicinity, which includes pediatric services.
Municipal Services, Media Coverage, and Volunteers
Dubai Municipality has set in motion a citywide strategy covering cleanliness, food safety, and the maintenance of beaches and parks. Designated family-only public beaches will be available, while 14 parks will stay open until 1 am. Excitingly, this year will feature fireworks and drone displays from Dubai Frame for the first time.
Dubai Media Incorporated is set to broadcast the celebrations worldwide, with a special program, Fihobi Dubai, alongside live updates and recaps of UAE achievements from 2025.
Emaar Properties has confirmed full preparedness in the Burj Khalifa area, while 1,800 volunteers representing over 30 nationalities have signed up to support Dubai Police operations across significant celebratory zones.
