Dubai Founders HQ Accelerates Startup Growth with Initial Program Success

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Dubai: The Dubai Founders HQ, an initiative by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) and the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, has wrapped up its inaugural phase of accelerator programs with remarkable outcomes for startup development, partnerships, and market entry.

In collaboration with the global innovation leader Plug and Play, the program ran over a 100-day period, featuring 23 startups led by both Emirati and resident entrepreneurs, alongside five prominent corporate partners.

Participants created 36 proof-of-concept (PoC) opportunities, with 15 advancing significantly into stages like due diligence or contracting; three agreements were finalized during the initiative itself. This program distinguished itself by concentrating on tangible business needs, facilitating swift transitions from initial discourse to actual contractual arrangements.

Major corporates including DHL, du Business, Emirates Flight Catering, talabat, and Visa collaborated closely with these startups to craft practical solutions addressing real-world issues.

A noteworthy collaboration involved Emirates Flight Catering partnering with Metis ESG to introduce a platform aimed at enhancing ESG due diligence, thereby improving supplier risk management on a global scale. Another successful case was the partnership between talabat and Retailhub, focused on mitigating stock shortages through enhanced real-time inventory tracking.

This initiative drastically accelerated the partnership-building timeline, with agreements that would typically require a year being finalized within just three months. Some deals transitioned from initial meetings to signed contracts within the same program cycle, showcasing the effective collaboration among government bodies, corporate entities, and startups within Dubai.

The program culminated in a demo day event that united founders, investors, corporate executives, and industry leaders, featuring live demonstrations that showcased innovations across finance, logistics, telecommunications, retail, and food sectors.

Officials emphasized that this accelerator is tailored to enhance innovation and expedite the scaling process for startups by creating direct connections with key decision-makers and regulatory authorities. The initiative also aims to empower Emirati entrepreneurs by transforming concepts into concrete business ventures.

Participants received over 80 hours of mentorship, alongside access to investors and training modules focusing on market entry, product development, and strategic growth. Additionally, over 20 important connections were facilitated with regulatory bodies, investors, and ecosystem collaborators.

Dubai Founders HQ plays a pivotal role in linking startups to the broader business community, ensuring they have access to critical support and real market opportunities. This initiative forms part of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, aimed at establishing Dubai as a worldwide hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and high-growth enterprises.

Building on the success of this initial phase, Dubai Founders HQ aims to broaden its accelerator programs into additional sectors through new strategic partnerships, further solidifying Dubai's innovation-centric economy.
