Celebrating New Graduates: Dubai FAA's Third Batch of Auditors

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

The Dubai Financial Audit Authority (FAA) has marked the graduation of its third cohort in the Professional Diploma – Government Auditor Programme, a key initiative developed in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) to empower local talent for essential audit and oversight roles within Dubai's government sector.

This programme aims to bolster governance and enhance transparency, aligning with the strategic objectives of entities under the Authority's supervision. This third cohort includes 22 participants from 13 different Dubai Government entities, all having undergone a rigorous training regimen that merges academic knowledge with hands-on experience.

The training unfolded in two key phases. The first phase was dedicated to academic instruction, encompassing 29 specialized modules that cover an array of crucial topics, including artificial intelligence in auditing, International Standards on Auditing, International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), pertinent financial and regulatory frameworks, financial statement evaluation, enterprise risk management, and corporate governance protocols for Dubai's government bodies. This phase sought to furnish participants with a solid theoretical grounding in line with contemporary international standards.

The second phase transitioned towards practical application. Participants engaged in actual audit tasks under the mentorship of seasoned FAA audit professionals. This applied approach allowed them to convert theoretical knowledge into practical skills within real workplaces, boosting their confidence and understanding of regulatory functions. The programme's integrated framework ensures graduates are well-equipped to perform their duties in conformity with global best practices.

His Excellency Abdulrahman Al Hareb, Director General of the Dubai Financial Audit Authority, emphasized that the graduation of this cohort highlights the Authority’s unwavering dedication to fostering a competent and effective regulatory environment via qualified Emirati talent. He acknowledged that the initiative provides participants with the essential tools and insights necessary for operational excellence, in line with Dubai’s vision to enhance governance and accountability across its governmental entities.

He further lauded the collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government, calling it a pivotal element in nurturing a productive training atmosphere. Al Hareb expressed assurance that graduates will contribute significantly to their respective entities and enhance the regulatory landscape in Dubai.

In turn, His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, congratulated all graduates and remarked that the programme embodies the leadership’s commitment to nurturing Emirati competencies and promoting long-term institutional excellence. He affirmed that human capital remains central to establishing a responsive and future-ready government.

Dr. Al Marri added that the strategic collaboration with the Dubai Financial Audit Authority serves as a robust model for integrated governmental cooperation aimed at fostering transparency and responsible governance. He underscored MBRSG’s dedication to blending academic prowess with practical training, equipping Emirati professionals with the latest auditing methodologies based on international benchmarks, resulting in improved financial decision-making and enhanced governmental efficacy.

The Professional Diploma – Government Auditor Programme is further establishing its legacy as a premier professional development offering in Dubai, equipping its participants with vital auditing competencies, data analytical skills, a firm grounding in financial regulations, and a thorough understanding of professional ethics, coupled with insights into best practices in regulatory and oversight functions.

The graduation of this third cohort signifies a steadfast commitment from Dubai’s governmental entities to nurturing national talent, keeping pace with the rapid evolution in the regulatory landscape, and cultivating sustainable institutional frameworks that align with the strategic vision of the Government of Dubai.
