Drone Strikes in Southern Russia Leave 3 Dead and Homes Damaged

Post by : Raina Nasser

An extensive drone strike by Ukrainian forces took place overnight in southern Russia, resulting in three fatalities and injuring at least 16 individuals. The assault inflicted damage on homes in various locations including the Black Sea port city of Novorossiysk, as well as Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar.

Russian authorities indicated that the Defence Ministry reported the destruction of 249 Ukrainian drones over multiple regions throughout the night. This interception included 116 drones over the Black Sea and 92 drones targeting the southern areas of Krasnodar and Rostov.

Rostov’s governor, Yuri Slyusar, revealed that the strikes caused damage to a paint shop, a warehouse, four residential buildings, and 12 homes. Tragically, three individuals were killed in the attacks.

In Novorossiysk, key footage emerging on social media showed a drone crashing into a large apartment building and igniting a fire. Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev characterized the attack as one of the longest and most severe against the Krasnodar region by Ukrainian forces. Seven apartment buildings in Novorossiysk and another residential building in Tuapse, close to an oil export terminal, were reportedly damaged.

These drone strikes occur amid the ongoing hostilities between Russia and Ukraine. Earlier on Tuesday, Russian military actions targeted Kyiv, resulting in fires in at least two residential structures and one reported death, according to Ukrainian sources.

This latest series of drone attacks has elevated concerns regarding the safety of civilians in these conflict-affected areas and the repercussions on essential infrastructure such as oil ports. The exchanges between both sides continue, intensifying the conflict with drone technology becoming increasingly pivotal in contemporary warfare.

Officials within the impacted Russian territories are conducting ongoing rescue and damage assessments while enhancing their defenses against additional drone assaults. Residents in the affected regions are urged to remain vigilant and adhere to safety protocols.
