Musandam Schools Transition to Online Learning Amid Heavy Rain Alerts

Musandam Schools Transition to Online Learning Amid Heavy Rain Alerts

Post by : Mara Rahim

The Ministry of Education has declared that all educational institutions in Musandam Governorate, encompassing government, private, and international schools, will shift to distance learning starting tomorrow, Tuesday, 16 December 2025. This precautionary measure comes in light of predicted heavy rainfall, with certain areas anticipating accumulations of up to 60 millimeters from early morning onwards. The announcement aligns with alerts from the National Centre for Emergency Management aimed at safeguarding students and staff during severe weather conditions.

This online learning transition enables students to maintain their educational progression while avoiding potentially hazardous travel circumstances. School leadership has been tasked with ensuring that both students and educators are well-prepared for remote learning, facilitating seamless lesson delivery from home.

Authorities are advising Musandam residents to remain vigilant, keep abreast of weather forecasts, and adopt necessary safety protocols during the impending heavy rains. Low-lying regions and roadways may be compromised by water accumulation, prompting caution when venturing outdoors.

The Ministry has reiterated that this directive is valid for all school types, underlining the priority of safety in adverse weather situations. Parents and guardians are encouraged to assist students in attending online classes and adhering to educational guidance provided by schools.

This temporary transition to online education embodies Oman’s proactive strategy to ensure the well-being of students and staff while preserving the continuity of education during extreme weather challenges. Authorities will reassess conditions and communicate when in-person classes can safely resume.
