Recently, Deepika Padukone was seen outside the offices of Maddock Films, igniting speculation about her upcoming projects. While initial thoughts leaned towards her joining a horror-comedy, fresh reports are pointing in a different direction.
Sources indicate that she is being eyed for the female lead role in the much-anticipated mythological film Mahavatar, which stars Vicky Kaushal. This project, which was revealed last year, centers around the famed warrior Parashuram.
A source mentioned, “The filmmakers are searching for an actress capable of delivering emotional depth and strength alongside Parashuram. Deepika is an ideal choice. Initial conversations have taken place but are still in nascent stages. She remains a top contender.”
Director Amar Kaushik emphasized the importance of the female lead, remarking, “From early on, we aimed for a character that holds equal importance within the narrative.”
If this partnership is confirmed, it will be the first time Deepika Padukone collaborates with Vicky Kaushal. The production team has yet to release an official statement regarding her involvement.
Kaushik also elaborated on Vicky's selection, explaining, “Before becoming an actor, Vicky was an assistant director under Anurag Kashyap. I have always wanted to collaborate with him. When Mahavatar was conceived, I realized he perfectly encapsulated the essence, intensity, and depth required for this character.”
