Cultural Platforms Initiative Continues in Ibra

Post by : Mara Rahim

Today, the Cultural Club kicked off the latest edition of its Cultural Platforms Initiative in the Wilayat of Ibra, located in North A’Sharqiyah Governorate. This marks the third significant event of the initiative, which will unfold over the next two days. The objective is to enhance cultural engagement across various regions in the Sultanate of Oman, fostering spaces for critical discussions, innovative ideas, and community involvement.

This initiative showcases the Club's commitment to expanding its cultural reach throughout different Wilayats. It aims to foster increased community participation and strengthen ties between academic institutions, cultural organizations, and individuals interested in enhancing their intellectual and artistic pursuits. The program is designed to connect scholars, writers, poets, and the broader public who share a passion for cultural advancement.

Featuring a diverse agenda of lectures, workshops, and discussion panels, the Cultural Platforms Initiative brings together distinguished researchers and educators specializing in literature, urban heritage, folk poetry, and children's education. By covering a wide array of topics, this initiative offers an in-depth perspective of Oman’s cultural heritage while nurturing local talent.

The inaugural day took place at the University of A’Sharqiyah in Ibra, starting with a lecture on "Urban Features in the Wilayat of Ibra," presented by Dr. Nasser bin Saleh Al Ismaili. This lecture delved into the historical and architectural elements that define Ibra and its neighboring areas. Following this, attendees engaged in a discussion titled "Al Mazra’ah Village: History and Architecture," facilitated by researcher Yacoub bin Mohammed Al Rawahi, focusing on Al Mazra’ah's cultural significance.

Continuing the program, Dr. Yousef bin Sulaiman Al Maamari from Abdullah bin Zaid Basic Education School for Boys presented a lecture on "The Importance of Children's Literature in School Education," highlighting how children's literature cultivates imagination, values, and language skills among young students. This session provided invaluable insights for both teachers and parents on nurturing a love for reading from an early age.

Tomorrow's events will feature a workshop on short story analysis led by Dr. Yousef bin Sulaiman Al Maamari, guiding attendees in comprehending and evaluating short stories effectively. Participants can also look forward to a lecture titled "Critical Views on Folk Poetry" by Dr. Said Al Wahaibi, who will examine the artistic and cultural implications of Omani folk poetry.

Additionally, a discussion on "Omani Folk Literature" will be conducted by Dr. Ali bin Hamad Al Farsi and Dr. Bassam Barqawi from the University of A’Sharqiyah, focusing on traditional narrative forms, poetry, and oral heritage. The day will conclude with an evening discussion addressing "Stylistic Phenomena in Omani Poetic Verse," featuring contributions from scholars and critics specializing in poetry and literary critique.

The Cultural Platforms Initiative aims to offer enriching cultural content that resonates with the community. By organizing these events across the Sultanate’s Governorates, the Club envisions cultivating vibrant cultural environments where meaningful conversations can thrive, local talents can flourish, and creative voices can emerge. These platforms embody the Club’s dedication to fortifying the national cultural landscape and honoring literature, heritage, and other crucial intellectual domains.

Through this initiative, the Cultural Club endeavors to position cultural engagement as a fundamental aspect of Omani society. By facilitating knowledge sharing and artistic expression, the program seeks to enrich the nation’s cultural identity and nurture an ecosystem where creators, scholars, and learners can evolve collaboratively.
