Kicking off on Friday, the 2025 ISSF Shooting World Cup Finals are taking place at the Lusail Shooting Complex in Qatar, welcoming elite marksmen and markswomen from across the globe. This prestigious event runs until Monday and features the top 12 men and women in each discipline. Tournament director Jassim Shaheen Al Sulaiti noted that this is Qatar’s second time hosting the finals, which also support preparations for the upcoming World Championship in November. A total of 144 athletes from 133 countries, including 16 Qatari shooters, will be competing for 36 crucial qualifying spots for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Innovatively, the finals will implement the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for the first time, ensuring accuracy in adjudication throughout the matches. Over 60 distinguished international referees, aided by a proficient Qatari team, will oversee the competitions. ISSF President Luciano Rossi commended Qatar’s robust infrastructure and logistical capabilities, affirming Doha’s prowess in hosting high-caliber sports events on a global stage.

This finals event serves as a pivotal chance for Qatari athletes to gain essential experience ahead of the 2025 World Championship. Under the guidance of new coaching staff, these competitors are determined to enhance their skills and improve their prospects for Olympic qualification. The event not only fortifies Qatar’s reputation as a premier venue for international shooting competitions but also helps elevate local shooters' performance to new heights.
