The late Chadwick Boseman, renowned for his impactful performances, is set to be honored with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, five years after his passing at 43. The ceremony will be held on November 20 in Los Angeles.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced that Boseman’s star will be placed at 6904 Hollywood Boulevard, marking his significant contributions to the film industry and his lasting cultural influence. Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame, stated, “We are privileged to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s exceptional legacy with a star. His powerful performances and influence both on screen and in the community continue to inspire many.”
Boseman’s remarkable career featured roles depicting iconic figures from Black American history. He earned widespread acclaim for his breakthrough performance as Jackie Robinson in the 2013 film 42, followed by portrayals of James Brown in Get On Up (2014) and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall (2017), where his intense performance garnered critical praise.
His role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (2020) further solidified his legacy, earning him posthumous nominations including an Oscar nomination and wins at prestigious ceremonies, with his wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, accepting these honors.
Boseman rose to international fame for his portrayal of T’Challa in Black Panther within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film became a cultural milestone, establishing Boseman as a beacon of representation and empowerment.
During the Walk of Fame ceremony, tributes will be delivered from Boseman’s close collaborators, including Ryan Coogler and Viola Davis. Simone Ledward-Boseman will accept the posthumous honor on her husband’s behalf.
