Celina Jaitly Initiates Domestic Violence Case, Claims ₹50 Crore in Damages

Post by : Raina Nasser

Former Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has pursued legal action against her husband, Peter Haag, filing a domestic violence case in Mumbai. The lawsuit, brought forth under the Domestic Violence Act, alleges Haag's acts of cruelty, emotional manipulation, and psychological distress inflicted upon Celina. The case is currently under the scrutiny of the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Andheri, Maharashtra, where the court is examining the claims and sending out requisite notices.

Jaitly is seeking a notable compensation amounting to ₹50 crores, citing financial losses and properties affected by the ongoing personal and legal disputes with Haag. The gravity of her allegations emphasizes the tumultuous domestic situation she claims to be enduring.

Peter Haag, an Austrian businessman and hotelier, has been married to Celina since 2011, and together they have four sons, including two sets of twins. Tragically, one of their younger twins, Shamsher, passed away in 2017 due to heart issues. Although they once maintained a public image, recent events have drawn attention to their private challenges.

The domestic violence allegations come at a time when Celina’s family is facing an additional crisis regarding her brother, Major (Retired) Vikrant Jaitly, who has reportedly been detained unlawfully in the UAE since September 2024. This incident has led Celina to request help from Indian authorities. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed their provision of consular aid and has been making regular visits to Vikrant. The Delhi High Court has ordered the Indian government to offer legal and medical assistance to Celina’s brother following a plea from her.

Known for her achievements in Bollywood and as a former Miss Universe finalist, Celina is actively seeking justice and support for her family. Her public call for assistance reflects her commitment to safeguard her family and tackle the challenges she is enduring.

The proceedings against Peter Haag under the Domestic Violence Act are pivotal, spotlighting the necessity for legal measures to protect victims of domestic violence. The unfolding legal matters will shed light on the details as the court works toward resolving Celina’s assertions.

Celina Jaitly’s legal journey aims to address alleged domestic violence, recover financial losses, and obtain necessary support for her family, including her brother's legal troubles abroad. This situation is under watch as the court deliberates on the forthcoming decisions.
