UAE Unveils DAMITA: The Pioneering AI Counter-Drone Defense System

Post by : Mara Rahim

Calidus Holding Group, a premier defense and manufacturing firm in the UAE, has launched DAMITA, the nation’s first fully integrated counter-drone defense system. This cutting-edge technology is engineered to detect, track, and neutralize AI-powered drones and swarm attacks, offering comprehensive protection for cities, borders, military installations, and essential infrastructure.

Entirely developed within the UAE, DAMITA merges multiple layers of autonomous defense capabilities into a consolidated AI-driven system. It incorporates detection, command and control, and drone neutralization technologies to ensure swift and effective responses to evolving drone threats. Utilizing a central AI command and control (C2) software, the system guarantees coordinated actions and precise responses.

Dr. Khalifa Murad Alblooshi, Managing Director and CEO of Calidus Holding Group, expressed, “With DAMITA, we are not just launching a new defense system; we are showcasing our full capabilities as a system integrator. The integration of detection, AI-based control, and multiple neutralization techniques into one platform provides a dependable and mission-ready solution developed entirely in the UAE.”

DAMITA tackles advanced drone threats that include AI-enabled drones capable of autonomous navigation, precision targeting, and operational efficiency in contested environments. It is designed to counter both individual and mass swarm attacks, marking it as a vital asset for future security and defense missions.

Equipped with a combination of radar, full-spectrum RF scanners, and EO/IR sensors backed by AI algorithms, DAMITA ensures precise detection while differentiating drones from avian species. Upon threat identification, the system can engage in electronic jamming, utilize high-energy lasers, or deploy advanced air-burst interceptors. This offers both hard and soft kill options to neutralize drones safely in urban areas without collateral damage.

With impressive capabilities such as an interception rate of up to 20 drones per minute, a portable laser for instant responses, and On-the-Move (OTM) functionality, DAMITA remains effective in both stationary and mobile operations, providing thorough protection for sensitive locales.

By blending innovation, autonomy, and scalable solutions, DAMITA marks a pivotal advancement in drone defense technology. It empowers authorities and military forces to respond effectively to the rising threat from AI-integrated drones and swarm attacks. The system’s flexibility, speed, and precision render it fitting for a variety of security operations, from safeguarding urban regions to protecting essential military assets.

This launch not only cements the UAE’s status in advanced defense technology but also emphasizes Calidus Holding Group’s dedication to crafting locally manufactured solutions. DAMITA is poised to play an instrumental role in upcoming security operations, ensuring the protection of citizens, infrastructure, and national interests against emerging aerial threats.
