Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz Reunite for The Mummy 4

Post by : Mina Rahman

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, the beloved stars of The Mummy series, are officially returning for a fourth installment. Fraser has expressed that this project is “the one I wanted to make” and he has been anticipating it for nearly two decades.

“The one I wished for was never realized… But now, it is on the way. I’ve been waiting 20 long years for this call. The signal has varied—sometimes loud, sometimes subtle. Now it’s high time we give the fans what they have been longing for,” Fraser commented.

The film is set to be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, collectively known as Radio Silence. Fraser's journey with the franchise began in 1999, which rejuvenated the classic Universal monster into a thrilling action saga. The series gained traction quickly, introducing stars like Dwayne Johnson and inspiring various spin-offs until its last entry, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008). A reboot featuring Tom Cruise was nearly completed a decade later but ultimately fell through.

Fraser recently reminisced about his past roles, specifically recalling his time on George of the Jungle. “I have treasured memories from that period. I also remember feeling quite hungry,” he laughed, looking at an old image with Leslie Mann and the Tookie Tookie bird. He fondly recalled Mann’s humor and the bird's sharp claws.

Reflecting on his recent experiences, Fraser commended young actress Sadie Sink, saying, “Oh gosh, that’s me with Sadie Sink. I feel fortunate to have collaborated with a talent of her level so early in her career… She’s absolutely fantastic.”

Furthermore, he described shooting Rental Family on an active train as a “whirlwind of energy,” merging extras with passengers, dubbing the film “a tribute to solitude” aimed at Tokyo and its cherry blossoms.
