Arjun Rampal Stays Silent on Graphic Scene in Dhurandhar Trailer

In his latest role, actor Arjun Rampal takes on a dark character as an ISI officer in the intense spy thriller Dhurandhar. The trailer, unveiled on Tuesday, has sparked discussions for its chilling opening, which showcases a visually graphic torture scene involving Arjun’s character. This depiction has generated mixed reactions online, from disbelief to admiration.

The trailer kicks off with Arjun inflicting torture on a captured individual, employing gruesome methods that many viewers have found disconcerting, leading some to critique the violence as excessive. However, there are those who commend director Aditya Dhar for his boldness in presenting stark and discomforting realism, a rarity in mainstream Indian cinema.

During the trailer launch in Mumbai, Arjun was asked about his feelings when the scene was first described to him. He opted not to delve into it, stating that he finds discussing the mechanics behind a scene uninteresting, choosing instead to highlight the film’s overall significance. He praised Aditya Dhar, reflecting on how special the day was due to the director’s commitment to crafting an exceptional film.

In a slip of the tongue at the event, Arjun unknowingly revealed the name of Ranveer Singh’s character. Though the trailer conceals the identity of the lead, Arjun mentioned that in two years of shooting, he “never saw Ranveer once, only Hamza,” inadvertently disclosing the character’s name.

Dhurandhar takes cues from the Lyari Gang Wars in Pakistan and draws parallels with covert missions tied to Indian intelligence. The film boasts a formidable cast, including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, with several roles inspired by real-life figures.
The film is set to hit theaters on December 5.
