From the early hours of the morning, thousands of pilgrims made their way to Namirah Mosque in Arafat, eager to engage in the combined and shortened Dhuhr and Asr prayers while absorbing the Arafah sermon in an atmosphere of peace and spirituality.
The mosque and its adjacent courtyards experienced smooth flow as Saudi authorities enforced extensive organizational strategies to ensure the comfort and safety of worshippers throughout the Day of Arafah rituals.
Namirah Mosque holds historical and religious importance as it is linked to the spot where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered his Farewell Sermon during his last pilgrimage. Named after Mount Namirah, it is situated in the Arafat area.
Located approximately 22 kilometers from the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Namirah Mosque ranks as the second-largest mosque in the sacred sites region. Its architecture is distinctly Islamic, featuring six minarets that soar 60 meters high, in addition to three domes, ten primary entrances, and 64 gates that streamline the management of large crowds.
To enhance the experience for visitors, authorities have outfitted the mosque with advanced technological facilities, such as superior audio systems and live broadcasting capabilities for the Arafah sermon and prayers around the globe. The mosque also boasts modern air-conditioning and ventilation, shaded courtyards, digital display boards, as well as state-of-the-art safety monitoring systems to ensure a secure and pleasant environment for all pilgrims.
