In the wake of an intense heatwave, France has tragically recorded seven fatalities, as stated by French Junior Energy Minister Maud Bregeon.
Of these deaths, five are attributed to drowning incidents in lakes, rivers, or coastal areas. The other fatalities are also linked to the extreme heat conditions affecting the nation.
To mitigate future incidents, the French government has mandated local authorities to enhance safety protocols, especially during outdoor sporting activities.
Unprecedented high temperatures have been gripping the country since Saturday, impacting a variety of regions.
Specifically, much of Brittany is currently under an orange-level alert from Météo-France, which predicts temperatures could peak at 36°C by Tuesday afternoon, raising alarms surrounding public health and heat dangers.
Authorities are carefully observing the situation and are urging the public to exercise caution, limit outdoor activities, and adhere to official safety measures.
