Apple Designer’s Viral Post on iOS 26 UI Was Satire

Post by : Bandanpreet Kaur

Jon Yongfook, who is known as Apple’s lead designer, recently posted a funny message online about the new iOS 26 design. He jokingly said that he and his design team spent 18 months testing different types of blur effects for the background in the new iOS. He called it the "liquid glass" display and said they worked hard to find the perfect level of blur when the front parts of the screen are in focus.

He even joked, “If you are looking for experts in blur, glass liquid, grass, or fur UI design, let me know.” This funny post quickly went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter), and many people started talking about it.

Later, Jon Yongfook shared another message and made it clear that his post was just a joke. He said, “Bless all of you who recognized this as satire. I’ve been enjoying the puns.” He also added that although he has used Apple products for more than 20 years, he thinks the new iOS 26 design is the worst one yet. He hopes that Apple will make some changes to improve it.

Many people on the internet laughed at the joke, while others agreed with Jon that the design needs work. This funny post brought attention to how design choices in tech can lead to serious discussions—and even a few jokes.
