AMMROC Finalizes Essential Defence Agreements With Egypt At EDEX 2025

Post by : Mara Rahim

The Advanced Military Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Centre (AMMROC) has finalized three significant memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) in Egypt. These agreements aim to strengthen collaboration in defence sectors, enhance aircraft support, and improve technical competencies between the UAE and Egypt. The signing occurred during the EDEX 2025 defence exhibition at the Egypt International Exhibition Center from December 1 to 4.

The agreements were signed in the presence of high-ranking officials from both countries, including Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, and Mahmood Alhay Alhameli, Group CEO of Abu Dhabi Aviation. AMMROC's CEO Jasem Al Marzooqi and Major General Engineer Mukhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of AOI, were responsible for these landmark agreements. These partnerships aim to enhance collaboration in aircraft systems, manufacturing support, and advanced maintenance across various defence platforms.

The first MoU involves the AOI Aircraft Factory. This agreement creates a solid foundation for joint efforts in producing and developing components, structures, and systems related to fixed-wing aircraft, jets, and unmanned aerial vehicles. The collaboration includes aligning production operations with AMMROC's specifications, establishing dedicated manufacturing zones, and elevating inspection and testing standards.

Moreover, the agreement places a strong emphasis on knowledge transfer and technical training, aiming to generate joint proposals that bolster the rising demand for aircraft components regionally and globally. This demonstrates a mutual objective to enhance aviation capabilities.

The second MoU focuses on the AOI Engine Factory and Digital Manufacturing Center, aiming to enhance collaboration in engine repair, manufacturing, treatment, and supplying essential components. This includes the production of rotating and static parts, housings, frames, shafts, and refining heat-treatment and coating processes.

Additionally, the agreement promotes precision manufacturing, technical training, and the expansion of factory operations to meet AMMROC's demands for its engine program. Both organizations aim to leverage digital manufacturing to improve efficiency and reliability for long-term aviation necessities.

The third MoU pertains to the Helwan Factory for Advanced Industries and focuses on enhancing maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities for helicopters. It covers cooperation in servicing, producing or modifying specific parts, and advancing upgrade and modernisation initiatives.

This partnership will also establish specialized workshops and production lines, develop composite structures, and conduct mutual training programs. Both entities are keen to explore new cooperation possibilities within regional markets to enhance helicopter support systems.

Dr. Nasser Al Nuaimi remarked that these agreements signify the UAE’s dedication to fostering robust defence partnerships, especially with Egypt. He stated that these collaborations bolster modern industrial proficiency and strengthen future defence supply chains.

Mahmood Alhay Alhameli pointed out Egypt’s significant industrial potential, emphasizing that these agreements will facilitate the expansion of long-term regional cooperation. AMMROC’s CEO Jasem Al Marzooqi articulated that the MoUs embody AMMROC’s commitment to expand its ecosystem and enhance operational readiness for military fleets.

Through these three MoUs, AMMROC is furthering its initiative to cultivate partnerships, transfer expertise, and boost capabilities within the defence aviation sector. The company is also showcasing models of the F-16 and C-130 aircraft at EDEX 2025, illustrating its advanced MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) services.

These agreements represent a pivotal advancement in the collaborative ties between the UAE and Egypt regarding defence aviation, enhancing cooperation in aircraft development, engine support, and helicopter systems.
