Sriram Raghavan’s anticipated war film Ikkis, which features Agastya Nanda, grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, has been rescheduled to January 1, 2026. The film was previously set for a December 25 release but has been shifted following insights shared by Amitabh Bachchan on X, where he indicated that “certain astrologers” recommended this new date as more auspicious, thus prioritizing jyotish vidya over potential box-office rivalry.
Produced by Maddock Films, a fresh poster highlighting Agastya Nanda was also unveiled. Ikkis narrates the tale of valor and sacrifice through the lens of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, recognized as India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient. The film features Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat in pivotal roles.
This film marks Agastya Nanda's initial theatrical debut, having first appeared in The Archies (2023) on Netflix. Additionally, Ikkis signifies Dharmendra’s final cinematic role, making it a notable event for the iconic actor.
The much-anticipated trailer for Ikkis is expected to be unveiled in theaters soon, providing viewers with a sneak peek into its gripping narrative and performances. The production team is optimistic that the New Year release will pave the way for a successful opening.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar continues to thrive at the box office, grossing around ₹460 crore net in India. With the new timing for Ikkis, it sidesteps a direct confrontation and welcomes the new year with a clear path ahead.
Fans of war films and followers of Agastya Nanda are looking forward to Ikkis, which promises to intertwine history, courage, and cinematic art, heralding a remarkable beginning for 2026.
