Akasa Air Set to Broaden International Flight Network from Delhi

Post by : Raina Nasser

New Delhi: Akasa Air, the low-cost airline, is gearing up to enhance its international services from Delhi, along with plans for expedited Boeing aircraft deliveries, revealed a senior official from the airline.

Since launching operations in August 2022, the airline has developed a fleet of 30 aircraft, connecting to 24 domestic and six international locations.

“Soon, we will initiate international flights from Delhi,” stated Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air, during a briefing in the national capital. He also mentioned that the airline is assessing overseas routes to destinations such as Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, and Tashkent.

Currently, Akasa Air services six international destinations: Doha (Qatar), Jeddah and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Kuwait City (Kuwait), and Phuket (Thailand).

Operating 24 daily departures from Delhi, Iyer emphasized the necessity for careful expansion, aiming for high load factors and competitive pricing.

With a firm order for 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, Akasa Air has encountered some delays in deliveries. However, with Boeing ramping up its production, the airline anticipates a quicker roll-out of new aircraft, facilitating faster growth of its domestic and international services.

Iyer further mentioned, “We are pleased with the growth of our ancillary revenue,” highlighting the balance between fare structures and load factors, which is key to sustainable development.

Through its ambitious expansion and fleet enhancement, Akasa Air is positioning itself as an emerging competitor in the domestic and international aviation spheres, strengthening India's global connectivity.
