Air India and IndiGo Warn Travelers of Fog-Related Flight Delays

Post by : Mara Rahim

In response to the ongoing dense fog affecting several regions of India, Air India and IndiGo have issued advisories for travelers. This weather feature is particularly disruptive during the holiday season, impacting flight operations significantly. With visibility dwindling, both airlines caution that delays or cancellations may ensue and urge passengers to be patient as services gradually normalize.

Air India is actively monitoring the meteorological situation and is taking extensive measures to lessen the impact of fog on flight schedules. The airline recognizes how critical travel plans are during the festive season and reassures customers that staff are committed to mitigating inconvenience. According to forecasts, heavy fog is expected to linger over Delhi and regions in northern and eastern India, affecting airports such as Delhi, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Patna, which could lead to broader flight delays.

Preventive strategies have already been implemented by Air India, including support from ground staff during delays or cancellations. Travelers on specific flights facing fog interruptions will receive advance notifications under the airline's FogCare initiative. They will have the flexibility to modify their flights without additional fees or request a full refund without penalties. The airline encourages passengers to verify flight statuses via its official website prior to their journey, reiterating that safety remains its utmost priority.

IndiGo echoed similar warnings regarding diminished visibility due to dense fog, particularly at Chandigarh and Amritsar airports. The airline highlighted on its social media channels the ongoing disruption to flights in and out of these hubs. Passengers are advised to access the latest flight information via the IndiGo website or mobile application before traveling.

IndiGo reassured its customers that its teams are collaborating closely with airport authorities to restore normal operations as weather conditions permit. Once visibility improves, boarding will resume, and the airline expressed gratitude for passengers' understanding and cooperation during these challenging conditions.
