Surge in Advance Ticket Sales for Dhurandhar Ahead of Premiere

Post by : Mina Rahman

As the release date draws near, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is generating significant excitement at the box office. Advance ticket sales kicked off on Monday, covering an initial 2,000 showings that expanded to meet rising demand. The initial rush for tickets was palpable, though it moderated later in the day.

In just hours, the film surpassed the ₹1 crore milestone in pre-sales. By Tuesday afternoon, the first day's total had climbed to approximately ₹1.4 crore, with predictions for the weekend anticipating a figure above ₹2 crore. This surge occurs alongside increased ticket prices, averaging ₹310 for regular and IMAX formats. Premium tickets, particularly at INOX Maison in Mumbai at ₹1,620, have already seen Friday's offerings completely sold out, while cities such as Gurgaon are experiencing sales of tickets over ₹1,500.

While the advance ticket sales of Dhurandhar appear promising, industry experts highlight the competitive landscape, with well-established action and spy genres releasing earlier this year. Ranveer Singh’s previous success, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, garnered just under ₹4 crore in pre-sales in 2023. Analysts are optimistic about Dhurandhar but caution that reaching over ₹10 crore in advance sales will be a formidable task.

Under the direction of Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar portrays Singh as an undercover Indian spy immersed in the Lyari community of Pakistan. The narrative is inspired by actual events and integrates various historical figures from Pakistan’s recent past. Joining Singh in the cast are Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Sara Arjun. Dhurandhar is scheduled to hit theaters on December 5.
