A 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck just south of Vallejo, California, on Thursday afternoon, resulting in light but perceptible tremors felt throughout several Bay Area cities. The tremors were recorded at 12:41 PM Pacific Time, with the epicenter around 2 miles south of Vallejo, as per initial seismic data.
Residents from Berkeley, Benicia, Hercules, and Richmond noted brief and sharp vibrations, though there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. Many described the sensation as a quick shock followed by slight ground oscillation.
Seismologists indicated that initial readings could be adjusted as more information is gathered and additional reports on shake intensity are analyzed. While quakes of this magnitude are frequent in the vicinity, they serve as a reminder of California's active seismic landscape.
Authorities reiterated that, despite the quake's minor nature, residents should stay observant of earthquake readiness protocols and ensure that emergency supplies and preparedness plans are current.
