Enhancing Governance: Vietnam and Japan Forge Training Partnership

Post by : Shakul

Vietnam and Japan are intensifying their collaboration in human resource development, targeting the enhancement of grassroots officials' skills and the refinement of governance frameworks. This initiative underscores a long-term dedication to institutional progress and global cooperation in public administration.

In a notable meeting at Hanoi's Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra connected with Honna Hitoshi, Chairman and CEO of Erex Group. Their discussions revolved around assessing active collaborations and identifying further opportunities to expand training efforts between the two nations.

The Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister conveyed her gratitude for the collaborative training program launched by the Ministry of Interior alongside Erex Group since 2022. This initiative has significantly improved public management skills, particularly among emerging civil servants, local officials, and women leaders, aligning them with current governance standards.

To date, nearly 300 Vietnamese officials have completed training programs in Japan, benefiting from international insights and hands-on experience. The program’s effects have been substantial, with many participants successfully applying their training in their communities. Impressively, about 60% of the trained young officials have earned promotions, highlighting the program’s effectiveness.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra reaffirmed the Vietnamese government's commitment to cultivating a proficient workforce as a primary goal. She pointed out that international partnerships like this not only enhance administrative performance but also aid in developing a modern, agile governance system that can respond effectively to a rapidly changing world.

Honna Hitoshi acknowledged Vietnam’s recent strides in strengthening its leadership and governance approach for the 2026–2031 timeline. He reiterated Erex Group’s dedication to strengthening its collaboration with Vietnam, especially in the realm of human resource development, which he identified as essential for sustainable progress.

The meeting wrapped up with both parties expressing enthusiasm about the trajectory of Vietnam-Japan relations. They recognized that ongoing collaboration in training and capacity enhancement is crucial for supporting Vietnam's socio-economic advancement and fostering closer bilateral relations between the two countries.
