Vietnam's government has rolled out new measures aimed at bolstering transportation services and enforcing traffic safety as Hung Kings Commemoration Day and the April 30–May 1 holiday approach in 2026.
The directive, officially endorsed by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc, acknowledges the anticipated increase in travel activity, which may exert significant pressure on transport systems and heighten the risk of congestion and accidents.
Authorities have been mandated to upgrade transportation capabilities across all sectors—including road, rail, air, and waterways—to facilitate safe and convenient travel during this busy holiday period.
Strict adherence to traffic regulations has also been emphasized, with police instructed to intensify enforcement efforts and confront violations that lead to accidents, such as speeding and reckless driving.
Moreover, ministries and local governments are tasked with closely monitoring transport fare practices to prevent unjustified increases, particularly in light of fluctuating fuel costs, thereby ensuring fair pricing for travelers.
Coordination efforts between transport agencies and local authorities will also be intensified to optimize traffic flow, minimize congestion, and facilitate seamless access to critical transport hubs like airports, train stations, and bus depots.
The Ministry of Health has been directed to ensure that emergency services are fully prepared, with medical personnel and equipment on standby to promptly address incidents and reduce casualties during the busy holiday season.
Furthermore, campaigns to raise public awareness regarding traffic safety will be strengthened, promoting responsible driving and passenger behavior, while agencies provide real-time traffic updates and potential hazard alerts.
Hotline numbers will be set up for public reporting of issues, and agencies will operate round-the-clock to oversee and manage transportation activities throughout the holiday period.
